The top 10 web properties remained the same in March as in February, except for CNET Networks, which attracted 19 percent more visitors and moved one spot to number 10, according to a comScore report cited by iMedia. While circulation among those properties remained about the same as previous recent periods - in fact, Nielsen/NetRatings reports unique users down about two percent across measured sites - ClickZ points to data showing those fewer readers are more intensely reading those sites, largely making up for any shortfall.
In some categories the spread between circulation reductions and traffic increases was stark. The entertainment category saw an increase of 119 percent despite a smaller audience.
Yahoo, Time Warner, Microsoft, Google, eBay, AskJeeves, Amazon, About/Primedia, Viacom Online and CNET were the top 10 usual suspects in March. Geneology, Travel and religion were the top 3 categories in gaining visitors.
