No free music for you, Baidu
Google China is planning to give away free music downloads in an effort to take market share from Baidu, which currently leads the Chinese search industry by a wide margin.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Google will offer access to music from three global music companies and dozens of smaller brands.
The announcement comes at the same time as Warner, Sony BMG and Universal take legal action against Baidu for violating copyright laws by giving access to music files, reports Reuters.
Baidu was served a court order on Tuesday, demanding it remove all links on its music delivery service to copyright-infringing tracks.
