AdWeek: TiVo Gears Up for Return To Advertising With Review
Tivo, after salting its board of directors with advertising and media executives, has hopes to jump back into the marketing world with both feet. It is seeking ways to provide its own advertising media to programming sponsors through the digital video recorders it sells, and it is also conducting a review to begin turning on its own advertising taps once more.
The once-large ad account - spending about $40 million a few years ago - shrunk down to practically nothing in recent months. Having spent gobs of cash in TV, following the well-worn path of Internet bubble failures, Tivo is now firing its agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. Contenders include Deutsch, Grant Scott Hurley, Hal Riney, Black Rocket and Mullen.
