Time Inc. is expected to finally launch online men's magazine Office Pirates on Feb. 22, after several years of development - and hype - reports MediaWeek. The irreverent site is expected to be a veritable treasure trove of videos and off-color jokes; for now, officepirates.com merely boasts a logo (a skull and crossbones wearing a tie) and a warning: "Prepare to be boarded."
A former editor of Maxim and Condé Nast's Details, Mark Golin, has been heading the project. Time's Sports Illustrated.com ad sales team is handling the site's ad sales and has targeted male-friendly automotive, food and alcohol advertisers.
Time has committed to online, and as part of that effort has been reshuffling management and has laid off more than 100 staffers to cut $100 million in costs.
