Hoping bloggers and other site runners will drive traffic to its site, Ticketmaster is hatching a scheme to give them a cut of the revenue generated, reports Variety.
The new EventEngine widget allows blog and site operators to promote events on their sites. They then earn a percentage of the tickets sold through the widget in much the same way as typical online affiliate programs work.
The EventEngine widget was developed by Ticketmaster alongside "buy at," an affiliate network operator, which will also provide logistical support and data tracking for the ticket seller.
Ticketmaster also recently partnered with Apple to make concert tickets available for sale alongside iTunes downloads. The deal knocks $1 off album downloads sold through Tickemaster.com's iTunes Store.
