Earthlink is cutting 900 employees — nearly half its workforce — due to subscriber loss.
In the past year alone, Earthlink has seen 1 million subscribers depart and has posted four straight quarterly losses, boosted by spending on new wireless services, according to Bloomberg.
The company's high-speed wireless service has unfortunately failed, however, to offset dial-up losses.
The cutbacks are part of a new strategy from new CEO Rolla Huff. The company will scale back and focus on long-term customers instead of bargain-hunting dial-up subscribers.
