Ad-supported Google News
US-based users are now privy to text ads on Google News.
"What this means is that when you enter a query like iPhone or Kindle into the Google News search box, you'll see text ads alongside your News search results–similar to what you see on regular Google searches or Google Book Search," writes the Google News Blog.

Recent months have witnessed a variety of experiments with ad formats, including overlay ads on embedded videos from partners like the Associated Press. In November Google began running ads on Finance pages and began selling video ad space within YouTube search results.
Setbacks have also peppered the pile. In early February Google exited the radio ad business, resulting in the layoffs of 40 staffers. Days later, it made it possible for select users to hide undesirable ads within their search results.
