Dave Barry's August 31 column that railed against telemarketers included the phone number for the American Teleservices Association (ATA), and an encouragement to readers to let the ATA know what they think about telemarketers. Hoisted by their own phone lines, they can complain only so much.
A spokesperson for Barry's syndicate said that they had not received any complaints from the ATA, and for its part, the ATA left a recording on the line in question saying that responses could not be given due to "overwhelming positive response to recent media."
