Tech Brands Up in Value; Traditional Brands Lose

MacCentral: Interbrand: Apple brand value jumps 24 percent on iPod

Tech firms continued their climb up the brand lists, with Apple Computer, Amazon, Yahoo and Samsung shown to be big gainers, according to a fairly subjective rating done by consultancy Interbrand. Apple's iPod business helped jump up its brand, but Samsung benefited from a worldwide, and quite expensive, brand campaign. Only one company among the big brand gainers proved to be a non-tech company: HSBC, a U.K. bank. Many traditional brands slipped some.
