Sweden, which until now had no law against downloading copyrighted movies and music, has now banned the practice, reports the BBC (via paidcontent). One in 10 Swedes takes part in file-sharing, making the Scandinavian haven of Socialism a haven for online piracy as well. The new law was drafted to bring Sweden into line with European Union directives and is also part of a worldwide crackdown on piracy. Experts say the law will not stop the Swedes from being rampant downloaders, and the country's Justice Minister said pursuing online pirates would be a priority only if files were illegally downloaded in massive quantities.
