MediaPost: Success with Roadblock Ads
Following the likes of CBS Marketwatch, Penton Media's Window and .net web site network is now offering full screen ads as the user progresses into content.
The ads appear on screen for 20 seconds and can, if the user elects, be bypassed. Penton is claiming the ads are generating 9% click through rates. We've all poo pooed click through rates lately but if this is a sustainable model, all the better.
As an ad model both from one in the industry and as a user, I much prefer it over on-page banner-clatter
