Wired: Wired News: U.S. Users Give It Up for the Net
A recent study from the Pew Internet & American Life Project found 44 percent of Internet users produce online content in one form or another. The most common form of content are photos, followed by music, sites, newsgroup content, online organizations and artwork.
The study goes on to break content creators into three groups:
- Power creators, who are young and are avid bloggers, IM users, gamers and music downloaders.
- Older creators, who are well-educated, about 58 years old and have their own websites.
- And content omnivores, who tend to be unemployed and are heavy Internet users, about 40 years old with broadband connections at home.
