Study: Checking Email Adds to Office Stress


Could you be overchecking?

Email checking is one component that adds gravity to a long working day, according to a Scottish study that found some employees check their email up to 40 times every hour.

According to the BBC, more than a third of workers polled are stressed by the rate their inboxes grow over the course of the workday, feeling the pressure to respond promptly.

Women were particularly stressed, with only 38 percent feeling sufficiently relaxed to wait a day or more before responding.

Experts say workers need to designate just two or three email readings each day instead of moving constantly back and forth.
