Business Week: Starbucks Tunes In to Digital Music
Uh oh, looks like
RIAA got wind of it
Java purveyor Starbucks will launch a new service offering customers the ability to listen to a selection of over 250,000 songs using an HP tablet, and then create a CD of their favorite songs for $12.95. The service is designed to re-enforce the Starbucks eclectic brand experience.
While other music retailers will offer similar services, it's a good bet that consumers would rather sit in a comfortable chair sipping Starbucks, rather than standing at one of those "listening stations" at, say, Circuit City.
