Reuters: Primedia unit eyes content-related Web ad sales
Like Google, Sprinks (a Primedia unit, jr. competitor to Overture and Google AdWords) is starting to offer contextually targeted text ads — i.e., like paid placement search ads, except without the search. Ads can be targeted directly to contextually relevant text on content pages for participating content partners.
I wonder what Applied Semantic thinks of this trend, a small startup that has been offering the same idea for months (USAToday.com is a customer), re-serving Overture ads against story content.
