The Sportsman's Guide, which expanded beyond hunting and outdoor gear with its purchase of The Golf Warehouse in 2004, is now expanding into baseball with two additional websites, BaseballSavings.com and SoftballSavings.com, Multichannel Merchant reports (via MediaBuyerPlanner). The company has no plans to launch print catalogs to complement the websites at this time, but they could be a "blueprint for subsequent growth and/or expansion," according to spokesperson Bill Bartkowski.
The sites, which skew younger than the audience reached by The Golf Warehouse or The Sportsman's Guide, were given soft launches last week. The web now accounts for about 60 percent of the company's business, according to Internet Retailer.
