SpiralFrog Finally Ready for Testing

SpiralFrog, the long-delayed ad-supported music and video site, has finally announced plans to enter a testing phase, reports The Washington Post.

The site has already begun a private, limited beta test period. Beta testing will be expanded, the company says, after it accumulates feedback from all parties involved.

SpiralFrog's model is to let people download free music and video, but users must log in to the site at least once a month to maintain access to those downloads. Ads are scattered around the site to be viewed by those users.

Music tracks downloaded from SpiralFrog cannot be burned to a CD and are not compatible with iPods, though they can be put on other digital music players. Music publishers will receive 10 percent of ad revenue the site takes in.
