Wired: Swollen Orders Show Spam's Allure
OK, so I'm a search marketer, and search is hot, but it seems I'm in the wrong business. If I were willing to toss away ethics and become a spammer, it looks like I could be making millions, at least according to this story. Six thousand people a month ordered the penis enlargement pills from one company profiled in the article.
Apparently, people need to learn how to recognize a scam when they see one (then again, since I didn't order the pills, I can't for sure say they don't work).
I started collecting my spam on July 15 and I've received more than 700 spam messages a day. Which just goes to show you should never register a domain with a working e-mail address. I'm afraid that, until spam scams stop working, we're in for more of it.
