Sony anticipates sales of its Blu-ray DVD players in the US to jump sixfold in '07, reports Bloomberg. It believes movies exclusively available on the format will attract buyers.
Though it shipped fewer than 100,000 units total in '06, the consumer-electronics giant expects to ship as many 600,000 this year.
Sony also plans to release 14 or 15 Top 20 blockbusters exclusively on Blu-ray, which is currently in competition with Toshiba's HD DVD for the format ultimately expected to replace DVDs.
