Sony is in hot water over the the PS3's Cell processor.
According to Next Gen, a Newport Beach-based firm filed suit against the tech giant, claiming they infringe on an existing patent and demanding the “impounding and destruction” of all of Sony’s infringing processors.
Parallel Processing was issued the "Synchronized Parallel Processing with Shared Memory" patent in October 1991. It describes a high-speed computer that breaks down a program “into smaller concurrent processes running in different parallel processors” and resynchronizes the program for faster processing times.
