Sony has decided to settle with game controller company Immersion for $150 million, reports Smarthouse News. Immersion sued Sony for patent infringement, claiming that the consumer electronics giant had used its technology in the Playstation videogame console.
The suit stemmed from Sony's use of Immersion software that causes the PlayStation controller to vibrate in sync with the videogame action in the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 models. An Oakland, Calif. jury originally found Sony guilty of patent infringement in 2004.
In a separate but related agreement, Sony has licensed Immersion technology for $22.5 million - a sign that Sony is planning to use the technology for its Playstation 3.
