Sony has partnered with entertainment publisher Future US for rich media, high-quality downloads for the PlayStation 3, reports ClickZ.
Dubbed Qore, the offering will provide video game-related editorial content. Shows can be downloaded directly to PS3 consoles, where they can be accessed on demand.
The Qore channel will feature reviews, playable demos and strategy guides. All programming will be available in high-definition, the same format adopted by games played on the console.
Ads within the shows will — which were positioned to as a good opportunity to reach gamers at their consoles — be sold on a CPM basis, with Future reporting fetching premium prices for those ads. Burger King, Universal Pictures and Activision are among those signed on as advertisers or sponsors at launch. Ads are limited to five spots per episode.
Each episode costs $2.99 to download. An annual subscription, composed of 13 episodes, is available for $24.99.
