More access than ever before

With sales and number of games offered lagging behind competing consoles, Sony has cut the cost of Playstation 3 developer kits in half.

The PS3 kits will now be available for around $10,250 in North America, according to Ars Technica. Meanwhile, developer kits for the Nintendo Wii are allegedly priced as low as $1,732.

Last month, Sony cut the price of the PS3, resulting in a jump in console sales.

While the console's high price has kept consumers at bay, the console has also kept third-party developers away due to its complicated back-end.
