Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), such as Amp'd, Boost and Virgin Mobile, have been gaining steam, and now Sonopia, a two-year-old company allows anyone, including marketers, to create their own mobile company, reports VentureBeat (via Random Culture).
All the would-be carriers need to worry about is creating the calling plan and sending customers alerts and other information based on their interests. Sonopia handles the details - from service to handset delivery, marketing help, bill management and customer service.
Already the National Wildlife Fund is offering service, donating part of customer subscriptions to NWF causes. While it doesn't cost anything to set up a carrier, Sonopia gives its MVNOs only 3-8 percent of subscriber' monthly payments, depending on how many subscribers there are.
