Social Network CafeMom Lands $5M in Funding

Launched in November 2006, Mom-oriented social network CafeMom.com is already touting 1.7 million uniques and 65 million page views.

Its popularity has attracted $5 million in funding from Highland Capital Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvetson, according to MediaPost.

Owned by CMI Marketing, CafeMom is also attracting big-name advertisers like Playskool, Disney, HP, Kraft, General Mills and Sara Lee.

CMI Marketing was founded in 1999 by Andrew Shue and Meredith Viera with the launch of ClubMom. Though ClubMom is still around, CafeMom is now the "growth engine of the company," according to the website.
