Memes meet
50 Cent has formed an online community with free social media tools that spark interaction between his crew and fans, reports ClickZ.
50 Cent's official website, ThisIs50, was built on Ning, a do-it-yourself social network creator. Video delivery service Kyte was added to build visual bonds between fans.
The Kyte video service lets users see how many people are watching a particular video at once. They can also chat with other viewers while watching, lending a sense of common experience.
As a bonus to joining the community, 50 Cent's video crew publishes videos of their shoots, giving the site a behind-the-scenes feel.
Kyte videos can be embedded anywhere, exponentially increasing distribution of that content.
Moving forward, the service will work in partnership with 50 Cent's team to monetize the videos. (Kyte also has its own ad platform.)
