Search engine Snap.com has relaunched with user interface changes - including page preview and sponsored results interspersed with organic listings, writes ClickZ. The left side of the search results page shows a list of sites with text summaries of each; non-organic listings have a "sponsored result" tag. The right side of the page displays a preview of the site that's highlighted on the left, and advertisers can customize the preview of their sponsored result.
Users can scroll down the left-side listings to display different previews on the right side and even interact with the site in the right pane without leaving Snap. "The ubiquity of broadband allows us to do things in a different way," Tom McGovern, CEO of Snap.com parent Perfect Market (itself part of Idealab) is quoted as saying.
Snap.com is also conducting a contest called "The Other Way to Launch," soliciting marketing and advertising ideas from its audience and asking them to post them to its blog; Snap will award $5,000 to the person whose idea receives the most votes. It will also give $5,000 to the blog that refers the person with the winning idea.
Snap's announcement (pdf) offers additional details of the changes introduced with the relaunch.
