A new business journalism start-up could soon be joining the ranks of other newbies such as the Fox Business Network and Conde Nast’s Portfolio.
Slate is considering launching a separate site next year, devoted to news and opinion, reports MediaBuyerPlanner.
Slate deputy editor David Plotz believes there’s a niche for the irreverent online magazine’s distinctive editorial voice, writes the New York Observer.
Business journalism is still dominated by the big brands, he says. "We think there’s an opening for a really smart, analytical, opinionated website that could be webby and fast and agile."
The new project awaits approval from Post company executives. Assuming it gets authorization, the site could go live as early as next summer.
