Om Malik reports that Six Apart, the maker of blog software TypePad and Moveable Type, will likely acquire Live Journal for cash and stock. The combination of the blog players would create a 6.5 million user marketshare, putting it in the company of blog efforts made by major players such as Google and Microsoft. Live Journal, based in Portland, Oregon, has 5.5 million users, but only a relative few paying customers. The report indicates all Live Journal employees would be kept on.
