VNU has received approval from shareholders to become a private company, reports BtoB Online (via MediaBuyerPlanner).
The approval to convert VNU into a limited liability company came at an "extraordinary general meeting" of shareholders, which also appointed new members to the company's Supervisory Board. VNU, which publishes Billboard and the Hollywood Reporter via its VNU Business Media and also owns ACNielsen, was acquired by a consortium of private equity firms in June.
Media circles have speculated whether VNU plans to sell any of its assets, such as the media measurement firm. Earlier this month, VNU acquired Radio & Records and will fold Billboard Radio Monitor into that publication.
