SES Tchotchke Report

So now that all the search palaver is out of the way, the important Search Engine Strategies coverage begins: the tchotchke report. B.L. Ochman reports "there is a paucity of cleverness in the tchotchkes at SES, with a few of cool exceptions…

- Did-It has a frog toss. You get to toss three rubber frogs into a mixing bowl. Get two in and you win a lovely frog that says “grib-it” (sounds like Did-It). Maybe they were pulling my frog leg, but they said the frog soon will have its own blog.
- MachInteractive is giving away services to those who sign up at a special landing page created just for the SES show. One thing they give away is NetTracker Enterprise, which is worth $2,000, as well as consulting services.
- ValueClick Search has 64K USB jump drives and mints in a container that clicks.
- InfoSearch Media was giving away an iPod to people who sign up for a campaign at the show.
- Universal Engine was giving away beer, all day.
- MSN Search had a t-shirt packaged in the shape of a light bulb.
- Accoona is doing a drawing for a MiniCooper. Registrants (not press, boo hoo) got an entry form with their show materials.

Strange tchotchkes:
- Mamma.com is giving out gingerbread cookies and cookie cutters, which would seem the opposite of the message they would want to give. [Editor’s note: Mamma’s trade ads have featured gingerbread men.]
- AllstarAffiliates.com was giving away bobbleheads of streakers who have run through various events with GoldenPalace.com printed on their bodies. One was Mark Roberts, and another was Ron Bensimhon, which the booth guy earnestly told me all about.
