Yahoo Chief Executive Terry Semel promised attendees of a media conference that Panama, Yahoo's new online ad platform, would show some exciting first quarter numbers, reports CNET.
Semel was upbeat - "all smiles" - saying Panama was doing what Yahoo intended it to do - close the ad revenue gap between it and Google. Early reports from comScore show higher click rates on Yahoo ads since Panama's debut.
Yahoo's click-through rate rose 5 percent in the first week after the new system's debut and 9 percent in the second week, according to those reports.
Yahoo is counting on Panama's improvements, which should deliver better ad performance to sites in Yahoo's Publisher Network, to drive growth for the company.
