Smallville's Supergirl Invades Mobile Space

Sprint is helping The CW bring Superman's super cousin Kara to mobile phones in a new show.

Supergirl, who first appeared in the current season of "Smallville," will star in a series of animated mobisodes for Sprint customers.

Sprint sponsors the series, part of a larger advertising package with CW that includes commercial broadcasts and product placement on the Smallville show.

This is the second mobisode execution by CW for Smallville. A series featuring occasional guest hero Green Arrow was a big hit on mobile phones last winter.

CW perceives mobile shorts as a way to drive a young tech-savvy audience to the Smallville series. But Forrester analyst Peter Kim says the high price of data services from carriers will be out of reach for many members of that target demo.
