Searchers performed 5.1 billion search queries in October - 15 percent more than in June - and Google garnered 2.4 billion of them, or nearly half (48 percent), according to Nielsen/NetRatings, reports MediaPost. Yahoo accounted for 21.8 percent, followed by MSN with 11.3 percent and AOL with 7.2 percent. Activity on InterActiveCorp's Ask Jeeves almost doubled - growing from 75.81 million searches in June to 133.93 million in October, or 2.6 percent of searches.
Image searches reached 328.28 million in October, or 36.6 percent more than in June; the number of local searches increased 19.2 percent during the same period.
