Search engines, content aggregators, and subscription service providers and distributors will see $59.6 billion in revenue by 2008, according to research company Outsell, reports BtoB Online (via MediaBuyerPlanner). Revenue projections for 2005 are $37.6 billion, with information industry growth of 18 percent in 2005 and a 17 percent compounded annual growth rate from 2005 through 2008.
Companies such as Google and Yahoo - "disruptive" companies, the researcher calls them - have helped propel the segment to a 20.5 percent growth rate by making content available to millions of users and enabling the scaling of the web.
