Scrabulous Asked to Shut Down

Y! Games features downloadable
Scrabble for $20

Scrabulous, an online version of Scrabble, draws some 600,000 users a day as an app on Facebook — but that may soon come to an end.

Hasbro and Mattel, which own global rights to the original game, have sent a letter to Facebook calling the app an infringement on their rights and should be shut down, reports the Motley Fool.

The game was created by two brothers from India who built it after a search for an authorized online version of Scrabble yielded nothing.

In response, Scrabulous lovers have created Save Scrabulous groups on Facebook, which tout some 55,000 members.
