eMarketer looks at a few holiday shopping studies in an attempt to figure out what makes parents and kids, boys and girls tick when it comes to e-commerce. Not surprisingly, parents are more interested in giving education-oriented gifts than their kids are in receiving them. Whether by nature or nurture, girls and boys are hewing to stereotypes in gift receiving, although a few video games and educational game Leap Frog prove strong on both sides. Girls are getting lots of stuffed animals, and boys are getting evergreens like toy cars and trucks. Older kids in their teens are much more likely to be giving parents direct guidance as to what they want to receive.
