The plot thickens
Following in the footsteps of MySpace, Facebook may soon launch pages geared specifically to burgeoning filmmakers and musicians.
The social network has introduced sample pages of Music on Facebook and Film on Facebook. The features will be showcased at the SXSW conference in Austin next week, reports allfacebook.
The site will feature a third-party app from MusicToday that allows musicians to sell their music on the site. MySpace enables artists to sell music from its site through a relationship with SnoCap.
The pages suggest Facebook may try moving in on MySpace's band niche. The latter has provided channels for musicians, comic book artists, and comedians, among others.
Myspace recently signed a deal with the big four music labels to found MySpace Music, which will allegedly compete with iTunes.
