Roehm Fires Back at Wal-Mart with Lawsuit

Roehm

Julie Roehm, who was unceremoniously fired from her SVP of marketing communications post at Wal-Mart on Dec. 4, is suing the retailer, seeking financial damages items left in her office when she departed - and claiming that Wal-Mart damaged her reputation, making "false and malicious statements to the media," AdAge reports.

According to Roehm's agreement with Wal-Mart, Roehm's base salary was $325,000, with a signing bonus of $250,000 and annual incentive-based payments and restricted stock worth up to $300,000. Her complaint doesn't specify how much money she is seeking from the Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer.

Roehm's complaint notes that Wal-Mart's chief financial officer notified her that she had been fired "ostensibly because [she] 'hasn't been fulfilling the expectations of an officer of the company.'"

The complaint adds that "provided no specific examples of any conduct…which did not fulfill the expectations of an officer of the company, because no such conduct exists."

Asked where she'll go next, Roehm quipped, "Anyplace that doesn't end in -ville."
