Reuters and AOL have agreed to make Reuters business, fashion and sports news videos available through AOL's multimedia search engine Singingfish as well as AOL Search, reports AdWeek. Searchers will see a screenshot and description of the videos directing them to Reuters.com. Reuters videos are also available through Yahoo Video Search and Blinkx as well.
With broadband now in half of U.S. households, news providers are increasing the amount of ad-supported videos on their sites. And Yahoo, Google and AOL are building video search engines to distribute web videos. Yahoo's video search engine was released last week with new content from TV channels and film companies.
Last September, Reuters stopped licensing full business and financial news articles to websites, a move intended to direct more traffic to Reuters.com and increase its online ad revenues.
