Wired: The Right Taps Blogs for Bucks
It seems to bug Republican bloggers that the Democrats have been using their blogs to such effect in fundraising. Some are trying to even the score with RedState.org, a group sort of like a Republican MoveOn.org that tries to throw readers to specific sites regarding tight races, where they can presumably throw their support to the right-leaning candidate. It raised $1,000 for its first chosen candidate and isn't likely to blow the doors off Democrat online ad campaigns anytime soon.
Typically, Republican campaign financers have been few in number but high in average donation in the past few decades. When unions are left out of the equation, Democrat campaign financers have tended to be more numerous and smaller donors. It may be that giving a large amount over a blog's e-commerce system may not have the same desired effect as handing over to a needy candidate an envelope with a check in it.
