Red Zebra Broadcasting, owned by Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, is attempting to purchase Clear Channel’s sports station WTEM-AM and talk stations WWRC-AM and WTNT/Washington, MediaBuyerPlanner writes.
The buy would give Red Zebra Broadcasting a lock on the sports radio market in the DC area, according to the Washington Post.
The radio station group already owns three smaller stations, WTEM’s main rivals for call-in and sports discussion programs. The signal from those stations is so weak that they cannot be heard, for the most part, without interference.
Snyder made an undisclosed offer for the Clear Channel stations, but a deal has not been reached.
