IAR: Blogging By The Numbers
According to Blogcount, about 2.5 million people actively write their own blog, the online web journals that have become rapidly more popular as more publishing options become available. Jupiter Research estimates that, while this amounts to about two percent of the online community, four percent of Internet users read blogs.
The French may be piqued to find that their assertion that French is the "language of the Internet" seems be be falling on deaf, or at least uncomprehending, ears. Portuguese, Polish and even Farsi (spoken mostly in Iran) count among the languages beating out French for blog activity.
