In his first formal address as the new CEO of AOL, former NBC Universal COO Randy Falco has said he's happy with the size and structure of the company, reports Advertising Age.
Addressing marketers at the iMedia Brand Summit, Falco said the move by AOL from a paid subscription service to an ad-supported network has been positive. AOL is now the top display ad network and the third largest overall ad network, he said.
Falco acknowledged how much he has learned since coming from NBC, where he had little online experience. For the future, he said, he's looking for innovation in online ads, especially when it comes to video.
His comments included a call for help to find the online version of the 30-second spot. He said he does not believe, though, that online portals will emulate the broadcast networks by being able to control the bulk of the content available to audiences.
