Privacy advocates lie in wait
The Senate Commerce Committee's has rescheduled its online behavioral targeting hearing for July 9.
On the eve of the hearing, Public Knowledge, Free Press and the Center for Democracy and Technology will hold a debate contesting the safety of behavioral targeting, reports MediaPost.
Prior to the original date of the hearing, the Free Press issued a report arguing NebuAd, a vendor that uses behavioral data for serve ads at the ISP level, bears methodological similarities to browser hijacks.
Since then, NebuAd lost a potential relationship with Charter Communications. And this week, two more ISPs publicly distanced themselves from the company.
