Internet Retailer: Shopping comparison site PriceGrabber goes overseas
PriceGrabber released beta versions of Canadian and British versions of its price comparison service. The British preview will include high tech items, like computers, gadgets, software and photography products. The Canadian version will reflect the wider variety of categories currently shown in the U.S. The U.K. site adds up the value added taxes and shipping charges to create a "BottomLinePrice" so that the Brits don't have to click into each ecommerce site to do their own calculations.
PriceGrabber CEO Tamim Mourad said the next international targets would likely be France and Germany. Meanwhile, arch competitor Shopping.com runs DealTime.co.uk, which will be rebranded Shopping.co.uk sometime in 2004. BizRate.com markets to the U.K. and Canada, but does not include local merchants.
