'Post-Search' Targeting Network Launched

AlmondNet launched a new program that detects when people have made a search, and what they have searched on, in order to capture their future impressions on non-search websites, helping advertisers send them ads targeted toward those search query topics. If effective, it could effectively increase the amount of inventory available for search. Several internet service providers give AlmondNet data showing which users have made searches. AlmondNet then adds that data to a cookie-based profile for each user and allows sites participating in its "Post-Search" network to serve relevant ads. For people who get a creepy feeling about a profile being built on their behavior, AlmondNet allows users to opt out. Each of the ads includes a "Powered By" link that allows them to do so. AlmondNet also announced that a recent patent granted to it covers targeting ads based on previous searches.
