Publish: Postini says SMTP management is key to Spam battle
Spam fighter Postini reports that most of the messages it blocks get identified as spam early on, at the SMTP level, where its servers figure out that the sender has an IP address that is on a blacklist. Postini said it blocks 53 percent of emails in this fashion, with the rest going through content analysis, where three quarters of the remainder are filtered out. Emails to Postini seeking comment weren't returned.
