Reuters: Porn pulls more hits than searches

For all the hubbub about the dominance of search on the web, porn remains the most trafficked online destination, accounting for almost one in five visits, according to Hitwise. The imbalance - with about 19 percent of traffic headed to porn and only about 14 percent headed to search engines - would appear even greater if the percentage of searches for porn were taken out of the search category. Other studies have found that roughly one in three web searches involve a pornographic element, which - if still true - would skew the numbers further to a greater than two-to-one ratio in favor of pornographic traffic.
