Online address book-cum-social network Plaxo is putting itself on the auction block, reports the New York Times.
The company is seeking as much as $100 million. That figure stems from the perceived value of the data Plaxo accumulates from people who use it to maintain up-to-date contact information.
In August Plaxo added social-networking functionality to its suite.
Plaxo's feature set, thought invasive by some because of its slippery import abilities, was central to a recent dispute between Facebook and tech blogger Robert Scoble.
Scoble's Facebook account was suspended because he was running a script from Plaxo that exported details of his Facebook contacts.
His account was later restored.
